Welcome to My World!

Peacocks 'n' Paint are just a few of the things I do. I have two breeding pair of peafowl and I paint pictures, usually with acrylic but sometimes with oils. My paintings are shown far below on the right. Please scroll down and take a look! My peacocks and other things you might see around the "farm" are on the left. Those are photos of my inspirations!

New Eggs, New Painting!

I finished a new painting last night.  My husband says I am getting better and soon he will stay home and live off my earnings!  I think he is over optimistic as I have never even had one of my paintings for sale yet.  His goal in his old age is to be a kept man, my Boy Toy.  I have sad news for him... there is a slight chance I may never get rich and he is no longer a boy and paint is my new toy.  Oh well!  He is a very sweet old boy, and if I do ever get rich I will keep him supplied in Lowe's gift certificates, hot breakfast every morning and flatiron steaks hot off the grill at night.  He will  be such a happy camper!  What a retirement plan!

I put new eggs in the incubator the 28th.  We still have the beautiful white chick and a small female.  I want to keep them both, although that might require a whole new pen and I don't know if my darling husband is up to that project or not.  Both my male peacocks have been molting their colorful tail feathers.  I've made three feather arrangements so far.  My largest male has the bronze tail feathers.  He is so gorgeous!  I just love those birds!  They are fascinating to watch.  They are noisy, that is true, but only when mating or when strange animals or people show up in the yard.  Otherwise they are well behaved and mind their own business.  They do make excellent watchdogs.  Nothing out of the ordinary escapes their attention.

I am saving the smaller colorful feathers for my daughter, Deborah.  She is a make-up artist and hair dresser for models in Dallas and also works in a salon.  She does some work with feathers in some of her more elaborate hair styles.  I am anxious to see photos of her finished products!

  1. Kat, you should think about selling your paintings on etsy. Have you ever looked at that site?

I think it would be so much fun to watch baby peacocks grow into beautiful adults.
